1. What do you mean by Segregation?

  • The separation of cement, sand from aggregate is called Segregation. This cased due to w/c ratio. In good concrete all concrete aggregates are evenly coated with sand and cement paste and forms a homogeneous mass.In the time of handling, transporting and placing, due to jerks and vibrations the paste of cement and sands gets separated from coarse aggregate.

2. What is seepage?

  • Soil percolation of water through soil is called seepage.as a example, water on one side of dam comes out from the other side through seepage in ground which we control by providing sheet piles.

3. What is Initial and Final setting time of concrete?

  • INITIAL SETTING TIME- 30 Mints.
  • FINAL SETTING TIME- 10 Hours.

4. What is Durability?

  • The ability to withstand under pressure is called Durability.

5. What is the compressive strength of brick?

  • SECOND CLASS BRICK- 70 Kg/m3
  • FIRST CLASS BRICK- 105 Kg/m3
  • FIRE BRICK- 125 Kg/m3

6. What is the name of the machine to get compression test?

  • UNIVERSAL TESTING MACHINE (UTM)

7. What is the Bleeding in concrete?

  • Bleeding is form of segregation, where water comes out to the surface of concrete. It is another form of segregation where some amount of water comes to the concrete surface after placing and compacting, before setting. The water content carries some particles of sand and cementing materials.
